For high-flying status, no other card offers access to as many airport lounges as this one. You’ll also get up to $200 in airline incidental fee credit on an eligible airline you must chose each year (enrollment required), reimbursements for a Global Entry or a TSA PreCheck application fee and Gold status in both the Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy hotel loyalty programs with enrollment.

Metal Factor: Crafted from stainless steel with the account number imprinted on the back of the card for a streamlined look, the card weighs in at an impressive 18 grams, making it the heaviest card on our list.

Rewards: 5 membership rewards points per dollar for flights booked directly with airlines or with American Express Travel on up to $500,000 per calendar year, 5 points per dollar on prepaid hotels booked with American Express Travel and 1 point per dollar on all other eligible purchases

Annual Fee: $695

(Terms apply. See rates and fees.)

Bonus Offer: 100,000 membership rewards points after spending $6,000 on purchases on the card in the first 6 months of card membership

Other Benefits and Drawbacks: The American Express Platinum only allows cardholders to carry a balance on eligible purchases if they are eligible for the Pay Over Time feature. Extra perks include $15 in Uber Cash each month when an eligible card is linked to their Uber account (plus a $20 bonus in December) valid on rides and Uber Eats purchases in the U.S., points transfers to airline partners, airline incidental credits of up to $200 on a participating airline you enroll with each year and no foreign transaction fees.

The Platinum Card from American Express is also one of the best cards on the market for airport lounge access. Like with many premium credit cards, you’ll get access to Priority Pass’s network of  lounges worldwide after you enroll in the program, but you’ll also get access to American Express Centurion Lounges and, when flying Delta, to Delta SkyClubs.
